I believe a garden is about relationship. It is more than just an installation, decoration, or display of status. When a garden is understood as a process that unfolds over time, then the opportunities for interaction are built in as the landscape matures. The intention of my designs is to reflect the richness of the local regional heritage by primarily using native and adapted plants, while still maintaining a sense of order and structure so that the setting is understood as a garden and a place where nature is in partnership with humans to provide sanctuary and rest.

The goal is to plan and install a personal, sustainable landscape that becomes more beautiful as time passes, without demanding excessive amounts of the precious resources of water, amendments, and time.  I feel strongly that a well-designed garden that works with Mother Nature and not against her should never require chemical fertilizers or pesticides, and therefore is safe for children, pets, - creatures of every kind!
